Questions and answers about
MAGOG’s bendable slate

What is slate veneer?

Slate veneer is a thin composite material with a genuine slate surface. Instead of solid stone slabs, a thin layer of stone is used, which can be applied to suitable substrate materials. This creates the natural look of real slate, whilst being significantly lighter and offering greater versatility.

How thick is slate veneer?

The exact thickness depends on the product variant, construction and application. Generally speaking, slate veneer is significantly thinner than traditional natural stone slabs and is therefore particularly suitable for surfaces where weight, installation and overall height are key considerations.

How do you cut slate veneer?

Slate veneer can be sawn, cut to size and fitted to the relevant surface using the appropriate tools. Careful planning, the right cutting tools and professional workmanship are essential to ensure that edges, cut-outs and joints are finished precisely.

What is VENEO Slate® suitable for?

VENEO Slate® is suitable for high-quality wall surfaces, furniture surfaces, worktops, bathrooms, façades and specialised commercial solutions. The material combines the authentic look of slate with low weight, thereby opening up diverse possibilities in architecture, interior fitting, design and specialist B2B applications.

Can slate veneer be glued?

Yes, slate veneer can be professionally bonded to suitable substrates. The key factors here are the nature of the substrate, proper preparation and an adhesive system that is suitable for the application in question. Professional planning is particularly important in wet areas.

Is VENEO Slate® real slate?

Yes, VENEO Slate® has a surface made from genuine slate from MAGOG. This makes the material distinctly different from artificial finishes or wall cladding that simply mimics the look of stone. The surface displays the natural texture, depth and characteristic appearance of genuine natural stone.
